MyCollections is a media cataloging tool to organize multimedia content. Unlike programs that focus on specific file types, MyCollections is designed to help you sort apps, books, games, movies, series, music, and also adult content. There is even a section to catalog Nintendo games. With a wide array of options, MyCollections integrates your favorite multimedia files in a centralized database that you can explore, search, and keep updated.
After a simple setup, MyCollections will be ready to organize your media. The program interface is clean and uncluttered, making it easy to browse through the different media galleries. There are several ways of adding content to the program database. One of these is through the main toolbar, which allows you to manually add single movies, albums, games, etc. Simply by typing a movie title, for example, the program will search several web sources and automatically complete its entry with accurate details like title, released date, rating, comments, and images.
With the Add Media option, the program will browse your hard drive for multimedia content. Whether it is music, books, apps, or games, MyCollections will automatically retrieve data for each media file in your collection. If the data is erroneous or an image does not match your content, you can select a different data source and update the information without leaving the app. Another way of adding content is by importing databases from XML, CVS, HTML files, and also by scanning bar-codes from physical disks.
Once you've added multimedia files, the app will help you manage and keep track of your collections. From the movie gallery, for instance, you can browse your collection of films, watch official trailers, and play your movies with your default media player. It is also possible to mark media items as watched or 'to see', export databases to various formats, generate charts and statistics for each media type, and keep track of loaned items.
During my test, the app was a bit sluggish and unstable, even on a PC with good specs. Other than that, it is an app with lots of interesting options and certainly one of the few that can efficiently handle different types of media content.
